Welcome to Cuma! The first Greek colony in the western world. It is one of the most suggestive site in the Campi Flegrei, ever since linked to the myth of Virgilio and the sibyl. It was the old landing place of the Calcidesi, colonists who sailed off from this place to found Parternope and Neapolis.
Every inch of this site reveals the unequivocal greatness of Cuma in history. The Roman crypt which connected the town to the “ Portus Julius”, the cave of the Sibyl, where Enea received the oracle, the temple of Apollo and Jupiter, later become Christian holy places.
Moreover at the feet of the acropolis there are the Forum, the thermal baths, and Arco Felice which was the monumental access to the town from Via Domitiana. Although the natural landscape has gone through remarkable changes, so that the magnificent buildings of that time have been turned into remains, it is still possible to breath the atmosphere of the ancient glory.
